It’s true that 95% of affiliate marketers will never earn more than a couple hundred dollars for their efforts.
Why so? People come up with dozens of reasons why, but I believe the #1 mistake that average affiliate makes is: having a poor mindset
Unfortunately, affiliate marketing is viewed as a “get rich quick scheme” that requires no work. Newbie Affiliates throw up banners on their sites, then expect to get rich overnight.
I blame the media, the crappy ebooks, and all the so-called AM gurus driving around in new Porsches for these misconceptions.
What are the common misconceptions about affiliate marketing?
Here’s what Affiliate Marketing is not:
- Get rich scheme for greedy marketers
- 100% automatic online money maker that requires zero work
- An excuse for you to spend your profits and change your core values
- An easy 1-2-3 way of making a living.
You must seek continuous learning, pick up new principles and methods, share information with others, and move forward with your efforts. If you don’t, you will only struggle to make money then end up quitting.
Mistake #2 - Giving up on affiliate marketing too soon
While misconceptions about affiliate marketing are publicly induced, you can commit self-induced mistakes like getting easily frustrated and giving up.
Never give up!
Let me repeat that once more: never give up.
Each failure or mistake is a learning process that takes you closer to reaching your desired goal. So view failure as a learning process, not the end of the world.
If you approach affiliate marketing with a learner’s mindset and are prepared to learn along the way, you will be successful.
