Acute fatty liver of pregnancy causes sickness and vomiting, abdominal pain particularly in the upper stomach, jaundice (yellowing), regular hunger and increased urination, tiredness, worry, and altered psychological country.

Acute fatty liver of pregnancy is an uncommon, but severe, circumstance of pregnancy in which there is an undue accretion of fat in the liver or liver cells. It is thought to be caused by a disordered metabolism of oily acids by mitochondria in the fetus, caused by inadequacy in the LCHAD enzyme. Acute fatty liver is rather uncommon, however, it is a severe circumstance that cannot be predicted or prevented. It is thought that hormones of pregnancy beat a character in this circumstance, but there does not appear to be an increased danger for subsequent pregnancies.
